Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced IBM System z HCD / IODF Specialist with SAN (Storage Area Network) expertise to manage end-to-end hardware and I/O configurations across enterprise mainframe environments. The ideal candidate will have deep hands-on experience in HCD/IODF/IOCP configuration as well as SAN/FICON infrastructure, supporting device provisioning, channel connectivity, storage integration, and infrastructure changes across complex z/OS environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, update, and maintain HCD and IODF configurations for IBM System z environments
Perform hardware and I/O configuration changes, including processors, CHPIDs, control units, and devices
Work with IOCP definitions and manage IOCDS activation and validation
Manage device provisioning and reconfiguration (DASD, tape, network devices, etc.)
🔹 SAN / FICON Responsibilities
Configure and manage SAN/FICON connectivity, including:
FICON directors/switches (e.g., Brocade, Cisco)
Zoning and path definitions
Channel-to-control unit connectivity
Coordinate end-to-end I/O path setup between:
Mainframe (HCD/IOCP)
Storage subsystems (e.g., IBM DS8000)
SAN fabric (switch zoning, port mapping)
Perform SAN-side changes, including:
Zoning updates
Switch configuration changes
Path redundancy and failover validation
Troubleshoot end-to-end I/O issues across HCD, SAN, and storage layers
Required Skills & Experience:
✔ Core Mainframe Skills
Strong hands-on experience with IBM System z / zOS infrastructure
Expertise in:
HCD (Hardware Configuration Definition)
IODF creation and management
IOCP updates and activation
✔ I/O & Hardware Knowledge
Deep understanding of:
Mainframe I/O architecture (CHPIDs, control units, devices)
Processor configuration (LPARs, PR/SM)
